Check the answer
Z
Language can sound convincing without being right. Checking means opening the source yourself, comparing date, period and unit, and daring to write 'unknown'.
Goal: You learn to tell apart an error, missing evidence and 'unknown'.
Use made-up or public information: no real names, client or money data.
Predict first
What do you expect?
Do you think an AI notices a simple calculation error in a text if you don't ask about it explicitly? Write down your guess.
Do it

Check the answer
Text A (made up)
“A price rises from 100 to 110: that is a 1% rise.”
- Ask your AI whether this sentence is right.
- Work it out yourself: (110 − 100) ÷ 100.
- Write down the error and the correct value.
Show the outcome
The rise is 10 on a start of 100. That is 10%, not 1%. Did the AI see that by itself, or only after your question?
Text B (made up)
“The Regime dashboard says Financial is 'loose' (edition of 1 January).”
- Open the Regime dashboard.
- Note the date of the edition you see and the state word for Financial.
- Compare with text B: match, mismatch or unknown (for example because the edition is outdated).
Check
Check card: five questions
- What exactly is claimed?
- What evidence is needed for it?
- What speaks against it?
- What stays uncertain?
- What do I do with it?
Decide
Who found the error in text A: you or the AI? And for text B: which date was stated, and which did you see?
